Wait
Pauses the script for an amount of time, or until a specific time of day.
Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Wait | Time period pauses for a number of seconds. Specific time pauses until a time of day. |
| Time | Only for Time period: how long to wait, in seconds. |
| Random | Only for Time period: when on, the wait time is picked at random between a Min time and a Max time each time the action runs. |
| Target time | Only for Specific time: the time of day (hours and minutes) to wait for. |
| Use fast clock | When on, the wait follows the model clock instead of real time. |
How it works
- Time period with Use fast clock counts in model time. At a clock speed of 6×, a wait of 60 seconds takes 10 real seconds.
- Specific time waits until the next moment the clock shows the target time. When that time has already passed today, the script waits until the same time tomorrow. With Use fast clock, the model clock is used, and the wait only ends while the clock is running.
- The execution log shows how long the action actually waited.
WARNING
Try to keep timed waits short and rely on sensors instead. Model trains never run exactly the same: after a timed wait you can't be sure where the train is. Use Wait for condition whenever the script waits for a train to arrive somewhere.
Example
A train stops at a station. A Wait with Random on, a Min time of 20 seconds and a Max time of 60 seconds makes every stop a little different, which makes the layout feel more alive.
