Choice
The choice action puts a person in the loop. It asks a question, shows the possible answers as buttons, and waits until someone picks one. The script then continues with the actions of that option.
Settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Optional. Describes what the choice asks, for example "Track selection". The name is shown in the script editor instead of the generic "Choice". |
| Question | The text shown above the options, for example "Which track should the train take?". |
| Options | Each option has a label, shown as a button, and the actions to run when it is picked. A new choice starts with two options; add more with Add option. |
How it works
- When the action runs, the choice appears as a card at the top of the screen on every connected Throttle. Anyone can answer it.
- The script waits for as long as it takes; there is no time limit.
- As soon as someone picks an option, the card disappears everywhere and the script runs the actions of that option, then continues with the next action after the choice.
- Closing the card with x stops the script.
- The actions inside an option can have their own execute conditions, just like actions anywhere else.
Example
A freight train arrives at the yard entrance. The script asks Which track? with two options:
- Track 1 sets the yard turnout to straight and drives in.
- Track 2 sets the turnout to diverging and drives in.
This turns a fully automated layout into a small interactive game: the script does the driving, you make the decisions.
